Abstract: The Niger Delta region of Nigeria experiences tropical climatic conditions characterised by high humidity, intense rainfall, and frequent thunderstorms, which significantly compromise the quality of geophysical data acquisition. This study investigates the association between atmospheric-meteorological variables and seismic refraction and electrical resistivity data quality using geophysical datasets from the Niger Delta. Correlation analysis reveals that rainfall shows the strongest correlation with resistivity (r = -0.89, p < .05), followed by humidity (r = -0.81) and temperature (r = -0.72). Seismic velocities showed moderate to strong correlations with atmospheric parameters (r = -0.58 to -0.65). Regression analysis established quantitative relationships: resistivity reduction follows yre = 0.92x + 36.5 (R² = .97, p < .05), while velocity reduction follows yve = 0.47x + 5.0 (R² = .95, p < .05), where x is rainfall intensity in mm/day. Data quality assessment demonstrates that thunderstorm conditions yield only 15% usable data compared to 92% under clear conditions, with signal-to-noise ratio decreasing from 28.5 dB to 4.2 dB. The findings provide a comprehensive framework for understanding atmospheric influences on geophysical data quality and developing acquisition planning strategies for tropical environments.
